"Petru Poni" Institute of Macromolecular Chemistry (ICMPP), Iasi
Dr. Andreea Laura Scutaru is an Established Researcher (R3) in the Department of Polyaddition and Photochemistry at the “Petru Poni” Institute of Macromolecular Chemistry (ICMPP) in Iasi, Romania. She received her Ph.D. in Macromolecular Chemistry in 2013. Her research focuses on the design and development of advanced polymer‑based nanocomposites and functional hybrid materials for applications in environmental remediation, energy conversion, and smart sensing technologies. Her core expertise includes photocatalytic hybrid materials (polymeric matrices embedding noble metal nanoparticles and metal oxides), cellulose‑derived functional platforms for photocatalysis, UV protection, and proton‑conducting membranes, as well as fluorescent sensors and photopolymerized nanocomposite coatings. She has published 60 Web of Science‑indexed articles (50% in Q1 journals, 26.7% in Q2), with an h‑index of 17, and holds two patents. She has led or participated in numerous national research projects and has undertaken international research stays at Graz University of Technology (Austria), ICMPE Paris (France), and Shaanxi University of Science and Technology (China). She also serves as a scientific evaluator for the National Science Centre Poland (NCN), the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF), and UEFISCDI Romania. Her work bridges green chemistry, materials science, and nanotechnology, advancing sustainable solutions for pressing environmental and energy challenges.
